Pine tar is a thick, gooey pitch which has a strong smoky, woodsy, and leathery smell.   It is the scent my husband says he smells when he goes to the woods.  For this soap, we have added the scents of peppermint, orange and clove which adds a minty and earthy smell to the soap.
 
Pine Tar is an old-fashioned ingredient that has been used in many soap recipes for centuries.  Pine Tar is said to be helpful with a variety of skin conditions.   According to Healthline.com, Pine Tar is sometimes recommended for the topical treatment of eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis and other dry, itchy, flaky or inflamed skin conditions.  While we do not claim that our soap will heal any skin conditions, this soap certainly is soothing to itchy skin.  It lathers extremely well and feels like silk gliding on. While Stink Purdy soap is one of our most favored scents by men many women love it as well particularly to shave with, as the bentonite clay provides the extra glide.
